Archon Sun was an official collaboration between artist Jesse Moynihan and Wonder Goblin. Jesse is best known for being one of the main writers and storyboard artists on the animated television series Adventure Time, and also as the creator of the greatest graphic novel series ever made, Forming. Jesse originally designed Archon Sun as a character to be featured in his short film JESUS 2, but ended up getting cut from the script. We decided to make a stand-alone toy of him in order to manifest a collectible version of this diabolical gnostic ruler. In Gnosticism, the Archons are the builders of the physical universe. They are each related to either the sun, the moon, or one of the five “old planets” - Mars, Venus, Mercury, Jupiter, Saturn. They are cruel, preventing souls from leaving the material realm. Archon Sun was made in the effort to create a physical representation of the being that could be bought and owned, giving the collector mastery over this cruel overlord. In a nut shell, “own your masters” by owning this toy.
