In the fall of 2020, Strange Gallery in Taiwan reached out to Wonder Goblin with a proposal to create an officially licensed Toho figure from the Godzilla franchise. Mr. Goblin chose Hedorah as the character to create since his favorite kaiju film has always been Godzilla vs. Hedorah aka The Smog Monster. He designed and sculpted the first draft early 2021, but Toho requested revisions be made. Hedorah’s second draft was completed and approved a year later in 2022. It’s premiere release was on July 24th 2022 at Wonder Festival in Japan. And fun fact, the day of the release coincided perfectly with the original theatrical release, July 24th 1971, making it the 51st anniversary.
